Thread veins (also known as spider veins, broken veins and capillary veins) are small red, blue or purple veins that usually appear near the surface of the skin on the face and legs. They often present in a spider web pattern, and are caused by the backup of blood.
Ageing makes you more prone to thread veins and leg veins. Other factors such as hormonal changes during pregnancy and the menopause, excess weight, inactivity and exposure to the sun also makes you more susceptible to thread veins. Thread veins can often be more noticeable than lines and wrinkles. Leg and facial veins are bothersome at best, unattractive at worst.
For thread veins Our Cynosure Elite + laser emits light energy in a series of short pulses to the vein which are absorbed and causes the vessel to coagulate, which the body then naturally breaks down. The procedure is completely safely and without causing harm to the surrounding tissue.
After a course of treatment these vessels will disappear and are not likely to reoccur. Although the results are long lasting for several years, if thread veins re-appear a maintenance course may be required.
A course of three to four treatments are recommended for maximum results. However this does depend on your condition and treatment times can differ. Treatments are relatively quick and can take just as little as 10 mins depending the size of the area being treated.
Varicose veins are enlarged, swollen, lumpy, bumpy or twisted in appearance. These are commonly found on the legs or feet and may be blue or dark purple in colour. Symptoms may include muscle cramps, swollen feet or ankles, discomfort in the leg, burning or throbbing.
We treat varicose veins with Sclerotherapy which is fast, effective and with minimum downtime. Sclerotherapy involves using an special foam injection. This is injected into the affected vein.
